New Avant-Garde Fashion Jewelry Line Ties The Knot

San Diego-based label Micha Design turns antique and untraditional jewelry materials into bohemian one-of-a-kind necklaces designed to turn heads.

San Diego, CA, February 27, 2007 – Micha Design is a new avant-garde jewelry line by Berlin- born, San Diego-based Micha Kuechenhoff who takes a refreshing spin on necklaces. The 41-year-old designer handcrafts one-of-a-kind necklaces using vintage beads, charms and gems, recycled fabrics, home décor materials or just about anything that can be turned into the most elaborate and original piece of jewelry with a couture finish.

Aside from the ingenious mix of diverse textures anchored with an enchanting color choice, Micha Design’s signature look is stylish knots that can be found throughout the collection. The knots are a clever detail tying the hand-picked vintage and non-traditional jewelry materials into eye-catching necklaces that can be accessorized in a million fun ways.

Always on the hunt for the perfect piece of jewelry to set her outfits apart from the rest, Micha started collecting and playing with vintage chains, beads and trinkets. Before she knew it, she was creating a full-on necklace collection. Each Micha Design piece is handmade and the only one of its kind.

“My palate for texture and color is never fully satisfied,” explains the designer. “Even when I think I have finished a piece, I’ll come back to it and add more detail or swap the colors. It’s an ongoing process that I’m endlessly excited about.” Gold and silver jewelry is mixed with bright and warm colors, from turquoise, red, yellow, orange and green, to brown and beautiful pastel tones. Signature pieces such as bohemian, sash-like necklaces with striking pendants and edgy, colorful pearl, chain and gem creations transform even the blandest outfit into a head-turning ensemble.

Born and raised in Berlin, Micha frequently travels to her old hometown for inspiration. “Berlin’s exuberant mixture, its hard edge and stylish subculture make all the difference and provide an invigorating contrast to sunny San Diego.“ The line has quickly become a favorite among fashion aficionados with the desire to add individuality to their outfit. “The moment people started recognizing my pieces and boutiques began to carry my line I was thrilled.
